The food that is fed to babies in Japanese culture is different from that in Western culture. 
Some Japanese meals

  • Tofu: Silken tofu is boiled and mashed.

  • Dashi Stock: Used to flavour and thin out vegetable purees.

  • Miso Soup (9-10 months+): Very diluted miso soup with soft tofu and finely chopped vegetables.

  • Oyaki (Japanese Baby Pancakes/Dumplings): Made from rice flour, mashed veggies, or tofu.

  •  okayu (watery rice porridge)
    White Fish (Shirasu/Tai)​

  • Sushi: Vinegared rice with toppings, including Nigiri (hand-pressed)Maki(rolls), and Sashimi (raw slices).

  • Ramen: Noodle soup with broth variations like Tonkotsu (pork), Shoyu(soy), or Miso.

  • Yakitori: Grilled chicken skewers with savoury-sweet sauce (tare).

  • Mochi: Pounded sticky rice cake, often filled with sweet azuki paste.

  • Wagashi: Traditional Japanese sweets are typically served with matcha tea. (dango)
