The Comic

For this first project we had to create a 8-page comic book based on a nursery rhyme. The nursery rhyme we were assigned as a duo, one Graphic Designer (me.) and one illustrator Lennox Hammond.

Our nursey rhyme:
"Remember remember the fifth of November Gunpowder,
treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder,
reason Should ever be forgot..."

Inspiration

Bryan Lee O'Malley's comics Snot Girl (and Leslie Hung) and Scott Pilgrim.

Some photos of Lennox's comic books. I used these as inspiration for the colours.

Looking into some type from comic books! Also looked at 'Sound effects"  I like the colour of the orange and yellow onomatopoeia, but wasn't sure it would fit the colours of our final piece.

no I will not be using comic sans
After that I decided to look up some Old English type and also some gothic style type.

These are colour palettes we decided to use. After colouring in the front page with these different colours we asked our peers what the best colour story is. They decided on palette 3.

Some painty sketches for the vibe of the comic.
Quick sketches for the comic design and layout. I wasn't the best at this and we both decided Lennox would work out the placement of the comic panels.
Little bit of research on comic book layouts
