Some Ideas using photos and the layouts of my thumbnails.
I decided to use a more illustrated approach, sketched this out, and tried to make an A shape for the "Adventure Calls" title.

I am developing the look of the image using gradients and textures.

I took advice from Vince and removed the 'A' from the box behind to make it look less broken up.
|
|
|
|
Damon suggested making the canoe into an 'A' shape over a minute; after doing the illustration, I liked how the single canoe looked.
