Colour, composition and linear narrative
We had to paint out a colour wheel on A3 piece of cartridge paper. Using only red, blue, and yellow paint. One the same sheet we did a colour gradient and a grey scale one.
After that we recreated the "Bauhaus Colour and Personality exercise".

Funky Fonts
I spent some time in the library looking at fonts.
Using only letterforms we have to create 6 final digital typographic designs. Each had to be based on different words.
Researching the Graphic Designers
For this we had to work in the style of different Graphic designers.

Finals
Book
Our final project was to make a 8 page book based on lyrics from one of the choices of songs. I chose Les Fleur, I enjoyed how the lyrics spoke on peace and mentioned flowers. The song feels like it is speaking about hippies. I wanted to possible go with a story of accepts and my first few ideas was heavily inspired by the Trans Right movement.
Some quick layout / thumbnail ideas on paper, I was really struggling with what I wanted to have in this book.
Digital thumbnails I did on procreate (I was struggling with my ideas)
After a while I decided to jump onto photoshop and have a mess about and see if it inspired me! First I started by layering textures over photos I did like this effect but decided I wanted it resemble a children's book more.
I didn't mind this idea and effect but I didn't really know where too go with it |
I decided I was going to "fake" a velvet cover with a style of the book being pages with embroidered. I found all the textures I needed online, my internet history is a little odd now.
I like how it turned out
